Boiler Blowdown Area, Fire Tank Training Area and ANC-9 Area: KEMRON prepared an RI/FS and completed interim removal actions at these sites located at
Fort Dix
,
NJ
. The RI activities were conducted in accordance with the requirements of the National Contingency Plan (NCP) 40 CFR 30, CERCLA and the requirements of the NJDEP.The RI work included soil, groundwater and surface water. KEMRON performed geophysical surveys at the ANC-9 area to identify buried materials. KEMRON prepared human health risk assessments (HHRA) and ecological risk assessments (ERA) for each of these sites. The HHRA and ERA were used in support of the recommended interim removal actions. Removal actions include soils contaminated with metals, pesticides and POL. KEMRON recommended and gained regulatory approval to conduct Interim Removal Actions thus avoiding a lengthy and costly Record of Decision Process (ROD) process. KEMRON worked with Region 2 and NJDEP.
New
Egypt
Armory: KEMRON conducted an RI to evaluate the nature and extent of potential contamination in the soil and groundwater. Concentrations of PCBs were identified that exceeded screening levels; therefore, a HHRA and ERA were performed. Based on the results, KEMRON performed an interim removal action of 700 yards of PCB contaminated soils for mitigation of health hazards.
In-Situ Remediation at the Taxi Stand Site: KEMRON performed in-situ remediation of soil and groundwater employing an innovative technology. Soil and groundwater were impacted at levels significantly above those required for clean-up by NJDEP.
Fort
Dix
identified and KEMRON secured the services of ElectroChemical GeoOxidation (ECGO) technology. KEMRON installed and operated the ECGO system. Additional activities included the installation and testing of groundwater monitoring wells; collection of chemical data, geophysical data and topographic information; site characterization; preparation of QAPP, SAP and O & M Plans.
USARC 77th RSC: KEMRON completed over 15 task orders in support of the 77th RSC throughout the region at active, closed and FUD sites. KEMRON completed tank removals, removal actions, lead and asbestos abatement, firing range remediation and removal of oil/water separators.
Evans Area of Ft. Monmouth: KEMRON completed an RI/FS of the Evans Area at Ft. Monmouth. Groundwater at the site was contaminated with chlorinated solvents. A natural attenuation demonstration program was selected as the remedy for this site. KEMRON was successful in negotiating the Monitored Natural Attenuation (MNA) and achieving site closure.
